Louise and I are quitting smoking as of today... Hooray for us.

We've found the gym we're going to join too. Melbourne Baths... it's reasonably priced and has everything we want (and little of what we don't want). It's perfect.

ergh... Today is going to be hard... but it won't take long for it to be easy

From Ectoplasmosis:

DEPRESSED WOMAN BECOMES OF ONE FLESH WITH LIFE PARTNER TOILET

I think I speak for everyone at Ectomo when I say that we’re all convinced that this is how we’ll find Eliza one day: kicking her tiny atrophied chicken legs as the putrescent curtains of her gelatinous flab slop over the sides of the filthy toilet to which her suppurating backside — so much like the hemorrhoidal posterior of an elephant seal, raised upon a diet of mayonnaise! — has biomechanically merged.

Deputies say a woman in western Kansas became stuck on her boyfriend’s toilet after sitting on it for two years.

Ness County Sheriff Bryan Whipple said it appeared the 35-year-old Ness City woman’s skin had grown around the seat. She initially refused emergency medical services but was finally convinced by responders and her boyfriend that she needed to be checked out at a hospital.

“We pried the toilet seat off with a pry bar and the seat went with her to the hospital,” Whipple said. “The hospital removed it.”

More seriously, this is an interesting example of the dangers of a finger-pointing society that always wants to incriminate someone. The authorities are trying to figure out what files to charge against her boyfriend, who brought her food and water on a daily basis. He certainly sounds like an idiot, and we can certainly question the parameters of any relationship where one party not getting off the toilet for two years qualifies as romance, but if we locked up the life partner of every obese woman who had decided to enthrone herself upon a toilet 24 hours a day in order to maximize convenience and minimize caloric expenditure, we’d have to imprison the paramour of every female World of Warcraft player ever.

Louise and I are hanging in Sydney. It's pretty awesome... Except early this morning: we're on the top floor of the hotel and something crazy happened on the roof last night... Like some wind knocked something over. So this morning at about 7 there were people working on the roof.

The hotel has just opened (like three days ago) so they're real disorganized - all sorts of teething problems. It's pretty unbelievable they had a circular saw running so early on a Saturday morning, though! Jebus.

Oh and we were relaxing watching tv, sitting on the bed. And suddenly one of the legs gave out and the bed sagged. Then another. So I went down to reception and they provided us with bricks! Apparently they've had a few beds break like this... Crazy. heh - last night when I went down to get the bed sorted the manager looked soo stressed. I almost felt bad asking him to sort our bed out. THen I attempted to make some smalltalk, talking about the teething problems and whatnot that they're clearly having. He was all like "No! This isn't because we've opened and we're not ready. It's normally like this". Looking at how tired everyone looks I'm sure he was lying to me. Talking to the dude that brought the bricks up - they flew him in from Geelong to help. He was fucked - poor guy. THen we went out for a smoke and caught the elevator up with the night manager. He said he'd been awake for like 56 hours! SHit fools - I work hard, but that shit is insane. I hope his boss flys him to Melbourne with his girl... But I can't imagine that the suits at hotels are quite as awesome as Mark is.

We're about to head down to the botanical gardens and the harbor... This weekend has been sooo awesome so far. Louise and I are a little sick, but we're not letting that stop teh Disco. We're heading out tonight... We're going to keep it kinda low key, though. We don't wanna get more sick... nor caught by the millions of cops around Kings Cross....

They're like ants -- everyfrickenwhere... It's pretty full on! I love it.

Holidays soon. Fucking yes!

These last few weeks I've been working like a Mum. I'm looking forward to a few weeks of my biggest responsibility being keeping myself alive.

With respect to that, I'm expecting all you peeps to try to make that as difficult as possible. My body needs to feel some hate right now.

You remember a few years back when my brother took us to... I think it was black betty's? That was a fun night for most - is anyone interested in much of that sort of thing? Living in Melbourne I have grown fond of going out rather than drinking @ home, and I never really did get in to the Perth going out scene much.

Having said that, I'm not going to have the zillions of dollars I usually have when I go over there, so there'll be a cap.

What we need is a third arm of teh government. A 3rd house, I guess. This one would be responsible for cleaning up and simplifying existing laws given the input from the people and the courts.

We'd probably need another house to approve the cleanups too... Hmm...

"After weeks of gruelling troubleshooting, I've finally had it confirmed by Microsoft Australia and USA -- something as small as swapping the video card or updating a device driver can trigger a total Vista deactivation.
Put simply, your copy of Windows will stop working with very little notice (three days) and your PC will go into "reduced functionality" mode, where you can't do anything but use the web browser for half an hour. You'll then need to reapply to Microsoft to get a new activation code." More here.

Looks like there's a fix at least... But it shouldn't happen in the first place.

I was walking through the Degraves St underpass to the train station yesterday and I heard a dude playing this song... And I decided I wanted in.

I've never managed to record my classical guitar nicely... I'm always unhappy with the sound... Tonight I'm happy! Yay me...

Anyhow, this is my version of Gary Jules' version of Mad World by Tears for Fears (who are teh awesome) fit for public consumption.

Combined, my software touches perhaps 30,000 people. Every line of code that I write has the potential to piss off 30,000 people. A few months ago, I wrote a few lines of code that today has pissed off 200 people.

I don't want know how 30,000 feels. 200 sucks.

I gotta work out how to do this shit properly..... =/
